Connecting the dots and finding our Image.

So how do we connect the dots in finding our Image?

And God said, Let us make man in our image…So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them – Gen.1:26-27

The Image of God:

• The Father
• The Son Jesus Christ and
• The Holy Spirit

As Humans beings we are made-up of 3 parts:

Please know that I do not have a degree in theology and this is only me discovering myself in the presence of the Almighty God. Usually most of the theology stuff is too high and complicated for me to understand and therefore I had to discover God and who I am, in Him, on my own.

Actually when I thought about it and looked at all the wonderful examples out there it was very simple to put it all together.

So lets try connecting the dots between the Trinity of God and our Image.

• SPIRIT – The Holy Spirit must be connected to our Spirit

The Father sent the Advocate as a representative of Jesus—that is, the Holy Spirit—who will teach us everything and will remind us of everything Jesus is telling us through his Word – John.14:17, 26

The Holy Spirit will lead us into all Truth, which is Jesus – the Way, the Truth and the Life.

So plainly speaking the Holy Spirit will constantly be pointing at the life of Christ urging us to follow His example.

For the Holy Spirit will help us in our weakness – Rom.8:26

• BODY – Jesus became flesh and must be connected to our fleshly body.

Jesus became flesh and lived among us in order to be a perfect example for us to follow – 1 Pet.2:9-25

We have to take up our cross and follow Him, daily, meaning we have to crucify our own flesh constantly if we want to be like Christ.

The only way that we can be connected to the Father is through Jesus – John.14:6

The most important statement and declaration we need to confess daily is: “Father, not my will but your will be done”

• SOUL – The only part left to connect is The Father and must be connected to our soul.

Soul is based on the Hebrew word nepes, which presumably means “breath” or “breathing being” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_anthropology

How exciting, awesome and mind blowing it is to think that God breathed Himself into us – Gen.1:7

That is why it is so important what we say or confess. With our breathe/tongue we create life or death – Prov.18:2; James 3:8

• Keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! – Ps.34:13
• Their own tongues will ruin them, and all who see them will shake their heads in scorn – Ps.64:8
• O deceptive tongue, what will God do to you? How will he increase your punishment? – Ps,120:3
• Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything – Prov.13:3
• Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit – Prov.15:4
• The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences – Prov.18:21
• No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope – Acts 2:26
• No one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison – Jam.3:8

If the enemy can make us think that we are not in the Image of God then we will forever struggle with our Identity.

He tricked Eve with this statement”…you can be like God…” and she fell for it, forgetting that she was already made in His image.

We need the Holy Spirit speaking into our Spirit the truth concerning our identity, and as we look on the life of Jesus and always follow His lead; we will draw closer and closer to the Father who is desperately waiting for us with open arms.

We are no longer orphans; we belong to the King of Kings

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” – Rom.8:28
